Live Mesh: How to sync folders not on the desktop

Live Mesh beta acts clumsy when it comes to configuring sync folders. By default the sync folder is automatically created on the desktop of the target computer. Here is how to move a Live Mesh sync folder from the desktop to any location:

  1. Create a new folder in any location you want on Computer A. Better choose no location which is protected by the UAC (Windows Vista). I did not test this case so better be careful.
  2. In the sync options choose to sync with every device in the list (and so with the target computer B).
  3. A new folder will be created on the desktop of computer B, which has the same name as the folder you created for synchronizing on Computer A.
  4. Choose sync options from the context menu of the folder on Computer B and choose not to sync! Yes it sounds weird but this step is neccessary in order to make the next ones work.
  5. Move the folder on computer B to the desired location.
  6. After moving, right click on this folder and choose "Add folder to Live Mesh".
  7. Now you will see a message box popping up with the following message:
There is an unsynchronized folder named "(your folder’s name)" already.
Would you like to synchronize this folder to the location you selected?
  8. Click on "yes"
  9. Next you will see the sync options window. All connected devices should be synched.
  10. Done
